Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
