Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The track features a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
