An Australian man who jumped across a fence and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.

The man, 26, was sentenced to nine days in prison for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control informed local media.

Wen pushed beyond security and charged at the performer and artist, who was attending the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in this summer.

The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many accusing him of causing further distress to the star.

The pop star has spoken of dealing with PTSD after a explosive incident at her performance in Manchester in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 people and injured hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere twice, according to local news sources.

The man subsequently shared video clips thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "released."

Law enforcement took him into custody the following day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Court Judge the judicial official was cited by Channel News Asia as stating that he was looking for publicity, noting that he was incorrect to think he would not face any penalties.

Grande has not commented on the incident.

Erivo discussed the event to the press, saying that she "simply desired to ensure my co-star was secure."

"I'm sure he didn't mean us danger, but you never know with these incidents, and I aimed to make sure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she said.
