Starting Eleven

Dean Henderson Not a save to make during the opening 45 until tested by an opponent's curling effort. His sliding tackle on Qazim Laci demonstrated his game intelligence. 6/10

The debutant Challenged by Albania’s biggest threat through Hoxha. Started in a central role early on but moved wider once a teammate entered the fray. 7

The defender Pushed up the pitch when in possession, as he has done before. At times seemed hesitant in possession and the tactic discontinued after the break. 6/10

The tall defender A nuisance on corners and free-kicks, typically, perhaps is an alternative to his teammate in defense rather than alongside him. One wayward ball later in the match nearly resulted in a goal for the visitors. Six

The young full-back Another confident performance from the rising star following his initial appearance versus Serbia. A teammate did not capitalize on the opportunity from a clever touch over the opposing backline. The role is his to lose at this stage. Seven

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. Somewhat careless when playing out but his dangerous corners posed a danger. A useful tempo-setter available to the coach to have versus teams who drop deep. Shown a yellow for a poorly timed foul. Six

Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and set-plays created chances. Had freedom to drift on the left only to be offside as the pass came with a chance to score. Given a deserved break around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Played in a high role out wide and also did plenty of the hard yards. Demonstrated glimpses of brilliance and dragged an attempt high. Substituted late on for a teammate, a fellow player, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Had England’s clearest opportunity of the first half, his effort excellently kept out by Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah holding position, he was forced to stretch the play on the right yet his deliveries from wide areas varied in quality. Taken off late in the match. 6/10

The captain The difference-maker scoring 77th and 78th finishes at international level. His first a trademark poacher’s finish while the second a classy finish with his head after peeling away off his defender. Now 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance in future competitions when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Struggled to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a presentable chance when set up from a teammate but Strakosha kept it out. His replacement had a greater effect after coming on. 5
